TELESTE-HEADEND-IBC2017 / Teleste at IBC2017 new opportunities in headend application design

Amsterdam (MEDIA EXPRES) / Sep 14, 2017 / Teleste will demonstrate at IBC2017 a new, innovative headend applications powered by the Teleste Luminato headend and its application module, a ‘pc-in-a-headend’.

Teleste Luminato and its dedicated application module allows headend operators to design and code headend applications to address unique service needs, or turn innovative ideas into reality.

The application module harnesses Teleste Luminato with a full-featured Linux computer that makes it possible to code headend applications for remote management, stream analysis, Near Video on Demand, CA Server and many more.

Hosted by the same headend chassis as other Luminato modules, utilising the application module allows operators to enjoy freedom in service design while saving space and energy by reducing the amount of hardware needed at the premises.

"Many of our customers have already taken the opportunity to design their own headend applications. At IBC2017, we will demonstrate some of these applications and showcase how easy it is to utilise the Luminato application module to carry out your own ideas for headend services:

Smart and secure CAS solution with deeper integration between the CAS server and the headend: Replacing CAS server with the Luminato application module creates a very compact headend with a smart and secure access control system. The application is designed by CryptoGuard, a Swedish developer and vendor of Conditional Access System and Digital Rights Management solutions.

Interactive TV services through HbbTV: Created by Sofia Digital, the solution works as a platform for managing, integrating and generating value-added TV services in TV operators’ networks. It allows you to, e.g., manage and develop new TV applications, deploy OTT and on-demand video services, as well as integrate Social Media channels into the broadcast stream or TV applications portal.

HLS reception for TV channels coming over Internet: The application allows you to receive Internet TV channels and convert those into other suitable formats like IPTV or DVB-C. For, e.g., hotels and other hospitality operators, this provides a cost-effective way to deliver TV channels into their networks and improve the guest experience.

Other applications such as Internet radio to IP/QAM, hospitality TV middleware, hotel info channels and emergency messages: New, innovative services are a great way for hospitality operators to add value to their brand, share information and deliver content, as well as create a delightful experience for hotel guests. As done by our customer Hibox Systems with their Hotel Smartroom, the Luminato application module can be easily adopted for carrying out such services. In addition, utilising the application module allows convenient and fast system maintenance and makes it possible e.g. to update all hotel smart TVs in one go."
